Welcome
to Orleans Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
working in Orleans County, NY
We are a 100%
volunteer, official affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International
established in the summer of 1992 with stated mission of building
one house per year to help alleviate inadequate housing in Orleans
County, one of the poorest counties in New York State.
Since
that time we have successfuly completed eleven homes for eleven
families, and we're currently planning our 12th home.
Habitat "homeowner partners" work side-by-side with local volunteers
to complete 300 hours of "sweat-equity" before moving into their
new homes. After moving in, the homeowners begin payments on his/her
mortgage and taxes with a no-interest loan from Orleans Habitat
for Humanity, Inc. The mortgage money is then used to build more
Habitat homes.
2008
Orleans County Home and Garden Show
The
newly re-established Home and Garden Show in Medina on April 5-6
gave us a chance to introduce ourselves to many local residents.
It
was also a great opportunity to kick-off our raffle
ticket sales for the new playhouse and hand-made quilt.
2007
LOWES Grand Opening helps support Orleans Habitat
We're so grateful to have been invited to participate in the grand
opening of the new Lowes in Brockport.
At the end of a very long, snowy day in December we were presented
with a Lowes gift card that will help provide supplies for our next
build.
We've
made it easy for you to make
financial donations of any amount online!
(Please be sure to click on the "Designate
Your Gift" button, type in zip code 14103 and select Orleans
HFH.) THANK YOU!!
Bonus: With
a donation of $20 we will give you one of our cool little "golden"
hammers to show our appreciation! Contact
us for details.
Take a few minutes to browse our site, get to know us better, and
get a feel for what you could do to help us either through volunteering
time, donating money, or offering other resources such as building
supplies, fund raising events, land, etc. We are very proud of the
results of our service to the community and welcome your participation
in this exciting and worthwhile activity.
